I'm Bored

I’m bored. It’s been raining, and storming, and tornado-ing, and thundering, and when it’s not doing all that, it’s been hot, HoT, HOT. My yard is a mucky, muddy mess. I’m stuck inside. I’m bored.
I’ve been playing Follow the Leader with Mommy and even let her be Leader, but I guess she finally got tired of playing. She told me to find something else to do that wasn’t under her feet. What am I going to do now? I think I’ll give you a tour of my RUGS. If you don’t want to go on it, you can click off now.
My house has lots of rugs. It has no carpets. You know the difference, right? Carpets are attached and cover the whole floor and can’t be ruched around and aren’t any fun. We have rugs. Everywhere.
We’ll start in the big room because it has the most un-fun rug. The only thing I’ve been able to figure out to do with it is cover it with throw pillows that I throw. The game is, How many can I get off the furniture before Mommy picks them up? My record is eight which doesn’t sound like much, but we only have nine in the room. So, I say, not bad. I usually play this game when I’m home alone. I’m given the task of being ‘guard dog’ when everyone is away, but you all know I stink at that. I’m a much better pillow tosser. Eight pillows a-l-m-o-s-t cover the rug. I’m lobbying for a couple more.
The rug in Mommy’s computer room/studio is one of my favorites. To show Mommy and Computer Rug how much I love them, this is where I keep my very very very very favorite toys (of the day). Coincidentally (or is it?) this is where Mommy keeps her favorite toys, too, although not on Rug…that’s my domain. She keeps Cameras, Lenses, Printer, Props, and I keep…Giggle (ALWAYS) and today, Wishbone, Bone, and No-Name have joined her. My toys rotate sometimes when someone (not mentioning any names) picks up my toys and I must start all over picking my favorites and moving them to their place of honor. Morpho, French Fry, and Cammie spend a lot of time on Rug,too-- just not today.
Family Room has two rugs, but I don’t like one of them. It’s scratchy and brown. I walk on it sometimes because my toy basket sets on it. But you already know where I keep my best toys. And it’s not here.
The other rug is pretty much fun. It scoots and scrunches great when Daddy and I play Rough-House-Giggle. Rug is too small for her space and can’t get really anchored down by any big furniture, but this is one of her greatest assets. Daddy tries to stick a corner under his chair, but Mommy undoes it so Rug is lined up with Sofa. She cares about stuff like that, Daddy doesn’t. Rug creates great tripping hazards when I play soccer with Giggle and Giggle-Go-Fetch. Come to think about it…Giggle really needs to share in the consequences of the trouble I get into when we get too rowdy. She’s always in the middle of it. Just an observation. Plus, she’s usually the one who starts it. I love her so much.
Dining Room Rug is big. It sometimes plays with Giggle and me and flips a bit (more tripping hazards) but mainly DRR is where I eat my daily Dogster. And Every.Single.Day Mommy says…’Delilah, you left your dirty dish on the rug.’ And Every. Single. Day I ignore her. I mostly leave the empty cup in a spot easy to reach, but if I eat it during a thunderstorm, I have to eat it under the table. I just have to. Not so easy to reach. Mommy needs the exercise.
Kitchen Rug usually has doggy cookie crumbs on it. Enough said.
Bedroom Rug is the best. It’s a bit plushier than all the other rugs. It’s old, but newer than all the others. I can tell, because it still has all its fringe. I’m working on that. I sometimes sleep on it. I always roll on it. I go to it for belly rubs. It shows off my hair beautifully so I can count on an encounter with Mr. Hoover if I spend much time there, and that’s always entertaining. Lately, I’ve gotten it in my head that it might be a portal to Turkey so I’ve been digging BIG TIME. So far, no breakthrough. Until then, Giggle and I are waiting to go on a Magic Carpet Ride. Wanna come along? There’s room.
